SHELDON, Iowa (KTIV) - In September, the Sheldon Community School District will once again ask the public to approve a Physical Plant and Equipment Levy (PPEL).
Sheldon last passed the existing PPEL 10 years ago for an amount not exceeding $1.34 per $100,000 of assessed property value. That PPEL expires on June 30, 2026.
This ballot measure assures the continuation of funding for long-term facility and equipment needs in the district without a tax increase.
The district is asking voters to continue the current levy rate.
Cory Myer, Superintendent for the district, says this PPEL creates about $840,000 each year, which can pay for facility improvements, technology, security, and bus improvements.
