VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WWBT) - A swimming advisory is now in effect for parts of Virginia Beach.

Officials said the advisory extends from the Oceanfront Area from 22nd Street to 37th Street, as well as Aqua Lane to the surfing side at the end of Croatan Beach.

Swimming and wading are prohibited, and signs will be posted on the beach in affected areas.

The Health Department’s recent testing shows bacteria levels do not meet state water quality standards.

Officials plan to do testing again this afternoon and will send updates as results come in.
