MIAMI — For the second time in his career, Kion Smith has made the Miami Dolphins’ Week 1 roster.

The Lumberton native was among the 53 players picked by the Dolphins to be on the active roster for the team’s Week 1 game on Sept. 7 at the Indianapolis Colts.

Smith, a 6-foot-5, 300-pound offensive lineman, graduated from Lumberton High School in 2016 and was a collegiate standout at Fayetteville State.

Smith made the Dolphins’ active roster in 2023 and played in nine games that season. He missed the 2024 season after a torn ACL.

Smith initially signed with the Atlanta Falcons as an undrafted free agent in 2021; he was waived by Atlanta at the end of training camp prior to the 2021 season, but joined the Dolphins’ practice squad days later. He remained on Miami’s practice squad for the 2
