The Public Art Commission on Wednesday heard updates on several local projects including a pair of crosswalk mural installations coming to the city's south side.

Jeremy Stroup will create sidewalk murals at two South Wayne Avenue intersections, according to a review committee report by commission vice chair Tim Parsley. One set will be installed where the road crosses West Foster Parkway and another at Lexington Avenue.

Concept sketches shared during the meeting showed one intersection bordered by four murals representing the banks of a pond or lake. Other art included birds and flowers. Stroup's work often features animal and botanical illustrations.

The work is expected to be completed in September.
