BRAINERD — The announcement of a movie is what prompted me to finally take “The Nightingale” off my bookshelf and give it a read.
A World War II novel by popular historical fiction writer Kristin Hannah, “The Nightingale” is slated to hit the big screen in 2027, with sisters Dakota and Elle Fanning playing the main characters. I’m a fan of the Fannings (say that five times fast) and know I’ll want to see the movie when it comes out, so I figured now was the perfect time to read the book. That way, the movie won’t spoil the book, and enough time will have passed so that I won’t remember every minute detail and harshly compare it to the movie.
Maybe that line of thinking doesn’t make sense to everyone, but that’s my plan, and I’m sticking to it.
