A new federal class action filed Tuesday accuses the Utilities Board for the City of Bayou La Batre and its director of allegedly defrauding new customers by demanding they pay "extortionate" and erroneous fees.

The complaint, filed Tuesday, Aug. 26, in the Southern District of Alabama by My Nest LLC and Robert Blake, seeks refunds, an injunction, and damages for what they claim is effectively an "unauthorized tax."
