JASPER, Ala. (WIAT) -- Jasper Police Chief J.C. Poe spoke with CBS 42 News after the man charged with shooting and killing his stepfather and shooting his mother had his first court appearance Wednesday morning.

42-year-old Nathaniel Anderson is charged with intentional murder and attempted murder after police responded to a call on Devon Drive in Jasper on Tuesday.

Anderson, who is being held in the Walker County Jail, remained silent during the court hearing, which was held via a video monitor.

“It’s determined that he shot and killed his stepfather and shot his mother,” Chief Poe stated when asked what their preliminary investigation had determined thus far.

He said investigators have not determined a motive in the shootings.
