A teen driver who hit a Montgomery County police officer on I-270 in 2023, leading to the officer losing both of his legs, has been sentenced to 22 years behind bars, minus a little less than two years for time already served.
Raphael Mayorga, 19, had been baiting Montgomery County police into high-speed chases for months.

Police say he often drove more than 100 miles an hour, despite officers begging him to stop.
In October of 2023, Sgt. Patrick Kepp and his colleagues were trying to stop Mayorga as he raced down I-270. Kepp was putting stop sticks on the road when he said Mayorga drove right at him and cut off his legs.
“His life will be normal. He will come out and leave jail, prison, and go back to a normal life.
