It almost didn't happen. The fate of the fourth annual Buffalo Jazz Festival was in the air after the JazzBuffalo outdoor summer concerts at the Richardson Olmsted Campus were canceled because of a change in site management.

But, as we've come to expect in Buffalo, people stepped in to help. In this case, it was Rocco Termini, owner of Tappo Restaurant, the longtime site of Monday night rooftop concerts by JazzBuffalo. The idea came about to host the festival as a street concert outside of the downtown restaurant. First organizers tried out the idea with a jazz concert in early August on the street outside of Tappo, and it worked.
