Residents push back on six-lane East Bank Boulevard, propose alternative plan

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — East Nashville residents have spoken out about a new road planned for the East Bank.

As the East Bank Development Authority's proposal currently stands, East Bank Boulevard would stretch from Cowen Street to the future Cleveland Street extension and add a new road from Jefferson Street to Korean Veterans Boulevard.

On Tuesday, Metro leaders and residents packed the room of the East Bank Development Authority meeting. East Nashville neighbors called for a re-evaluation of the plan for the roadway and implored for the creation of a newer, safer proposal.

"Nashville must build the East Bank for people, not for traffic," one speaker said during Tuesday's meeting with Metro leaders.
