PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) - Nearly a month after a car crashed into the Columbia River in northeast Portland , police said on Wednesday that they found the driver’s body.

According to the Portland Police Bureau, the body of 43-year-old Guillermo Soto Briceno of Portland was found in the river and identified by the medical examiner.

On the morning of Aug. 2, officers responded to a crash near Northeast Marine Drive and Northeast 122nd Avenue. They found the guardrail damaged and a car on its side in a shallow area of the river.

The car was empty, and authorities began to search the water and the surrounding area for the driver. That afternoon, police asked the community to contact them if anyone knew where the driver might be.
