CENTREVILLE, Ala (WIAT) – Centerville residents are still waiting to find out who will be their next mayor after unofficial election results end in a tie.

Centreville incumbent Mayor Mike Oakley and his opponent, Barry Cooner, both received 326 votes. The only ballots not included are provisional ballots. Bibb County’s Board of Registrars must decide which provisional ballots qualify.

On Tuesday, results will be certified.

“It’s almost unbelievable that we could have 600 plus votes and we could come out to a tie,” Cooner said. “We are in some uncharted waters.”
