BOYCE, La. (WNTZ) - Two Alexandria men were arrested after a Rapides Area Drug Enforcement (RADE) K-9 deputy discovered nearly six pounds of fentanyl during a traffic stop on Interstate 49 south of Boyce, according to the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Just after 1 a.m. on Aug. 23, a RADE deputy stopped a vehicle near mile marker 93 for a traffic violation. The driver was identified as Jermaine Dorsey, 47, and his passenger as Kyren Kentrell Dixon, 29, both of Alexandria.

During the stop, the deputy smelled marijuana and obtained verbal consent to search the vehicle, authorities said. A small amount of marijuana was located in the center console, and approximately 5.8 pounds of fentanyl were found in a bag on the rear floorboard.
