PEORIA, Ariz. — The City of Peoria has successfully acquired hundreds of acres of state trust land that will be utilized as part of a development deal with Amkor Technology to construct a semiconductor packaging facility.
City officials announced that Peoria's $46-million bid for 860 acres near the Loop 303 and Lake Pleasant Parkway was successful following a public land auction.
On Aug. 28, the Peoria City Council will review whether to use the land in the region known as Core 2 as part of an exchange with Amkor, which is developing a facility that's projected to generate hundreds of new jobs.
Amkor had initially planned to build a facility in Five North at Vistancia but the company later decided to seek out a larger site, city officials said.
