WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - After a summer of above-average temperatures, recent rains, and cooler weather have created favorable conditions for lawn care. Homeowners are advised to take advantage of this period to seed, fertilize, and aerate their lawns before the colder months set in.

"Ideally, this is the best time to seed from now through the middle of October," said Gary Courchesne of G & H Landscaping. "You get beyond the middle of October time frame, the nights start getting very cold, the soil gets cold, the seed won’t germinate."
