ERWIN, Tenn. (WJHL) - Businesses along the river, including Wahoo's Noli Rafting, were heavily damaged by Hurricane Helene's devastation, but they are starting to see light at the end of the tunnel.

Slayton Johnson, Owner and Operator of Wahoo's Nolichucky, said it's been a rough year for his business and others. Still, he is fortunate that the community and businesses are coming together.

Johnson and other business owners are taking steps to improve the river. The Nolichucky Outdoor Recreation Association (NORA) plays a crucial role in the plan.

"We were able to come together and, through the East Tennessee Foundation, fund quite many river cleanups and be able to give jobs back that way," Johnson said.
