KILLEEN, Texas — The City of Killeen's brand new Fire Station 4 is about to go live as the final touches are underway.
The facility, unlike any other in Killeen, spans 41,000 square feet across two buildings and sits on nearly 15 acres in fast-growing south-central Killeen. The new complex combines four major needs into one: a fire station, an emergency operations center, a support services hub and a fire training academy.
Killeen Fire Chief James Kubinski says seeing the building come to life is still overwhelming.
“Simply put, wow -- and that’s not just wow for the building," Kubinski said. "It’s wow for the support of city council, the city manager, city leadership. It’s not just the fire department. It has been every department who has stepped up, stood behind us and said 'yes, thi
