SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) — The Shreveport Police Department (SPD) is reminding citizens to be aware of the locations of school zones around the area.

Since the start of the school year on August 13, 2025, SPD has issued 2,291 speeding citations to drivers going through active school zones.

These citations have been issued with the help of Blue Line Solutions' enforcement cameras.

"We want to remind our citizens about these school zone cameras, because our goal is to have no one speeding in a school zone. So that no one gets a ticket," says Corporal Chris Bordelon.

The cameras use what is called "lidar" to monitor drivers' speed, which CPL Bordelon says is much more accurate than radar speed signs.
