TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) - The murder trial of Taton Dorfman began with eight witnesses taking the stand. Dorfman is accused of killing his girlfriend, Hannah Rogers, and a dog in Marana in July 2024 . He faces charges of first-degree murder and animal cruelty.

The trial's opening statements were delivered, and the jury heard from several witnesses. Those who knew the victim, including siblings and ex-partners, testified first.

Dorfman is accused of shooting and killing Rogers , but the defense is arguing it was a consensual sexual encounter that turned into a tragic accident.

Witnesses later in the day included a Marana animal control officer, Marana police officers, and the doctor who performed the autopsy on Rogers.
