Opened in 1907, Washington D.C.'s Union Station has had plenty of highs and lows in its nearly 120-year history, having undergone a number of management changes. In more recent times, Amtrak took control of the transit hub in July 2024 after striking a deal with a real estate firm for $505 million. Various rail lines and buses connect travelers with the rest of the United States via this Amtrak station in the American capital, servicing many of Amtrak's busiest routes . However, as it's also among Amtrak's busiest stations, many believe it's fallen from grace due to crime, neglect, and lack of funding, prompting action from the federal government, which wants to make it safe and beautiful once again.
