On Aug. 15 and 16, several runners from Gillette competed in two iconic races in the Black Hills: The Lean Horse Ultra and the Leading Ladies & Dakota Spirit Half Marathon.

The Lean Horse Ultra, held on the George S. Mickelson Trail, offers four distances: 20 miles, 30 miles, 50 miles and 100 miles.

In the Lean Horse 100, Joshua Richardson finished fifth overall, completing the race in 21 hours, 5 minutes and 51 seconds. Coming in 48th was Josh Bruce , who had a time of 29:50:32.

In the 50-miler, Adam Ross was 31st with a time of 11:16:36.

Chariti Ochoa finished the 30-miler in 5:44:11, good enough for 16th out of 59 runners.

And in the 20-mile race, Shane Robinson was sixth out of 51 runners with a time of 3:35:04, while Kayci Robinson was 17th with a time of 4:19:40.
