DUPONT — A kick-off luncheon was held on Wednesday to announce the 2025 recipient of the ATHENA Leadership Award of Northeastern Pennsylvania, presented and sponsored by the Greater Wyoming Valley Chamber of Commerce, at The Venue/Culinary Creations by Metz. Attorney Sarah Borland was chosen the 40th anniversary recipient of the award.

The ATHENA Award has been presented every year since 1985 to an exceptional woman in the community who has demonstrated mentorship and leadership and is a community advocate who aids other women in achieving their full potential.

Attorney Borland, whose mother, Ruth Borland, a 1990 ATHENA Award recipient, will be honored at a dinner at the Mohegan Pennsylvania Casino Resort ballroom on Thursday, Nov. 13.
