JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WJHL) - The Tennessee Department of Tourist Development (TDTD) recently released statistics for last year's economic impact of tourism in the Volunteer State.

The Northeast Tennessee Tourism Association (NTTA) highlighted spending numbers reported in the region, citing a record in visitor spending for the fourth consecutive year. According to the association, visitors in Northeast Tennessee generated $927,182,500 in spending in 2024, nearly 7% more than last year.

"Northeast Tennessee has made leaps and bounds," NTTA Executive Director Alicia Phelps said. "This was our largest year on record. I think within the next few years, we will absolutely see visitor spending near or close to $1 billion in our area. And that's a major milestone for us."
