A University of Saint Francis program that offers summer enrichment activities for K-12 students has gotten nearly $416,000 in additional funding from the Lilly Endowment, the Catholic institution announced this week.

Saint Francis launched Discovery Academy three years ago with an initial $862,000 grant through Lilly’s Indiana Youth Programs on Campus initiative. The additional funding is for three years, a news release said.

The private philanthropic foundation launched the effort in 2021 to help Indiana colleges create or enhance high-quality, on-campus programs for students ages 5 to 18. Goals listed on its website include increasing the number of students who attend Indiana colleges and obtain postsecondary degrees and credentials.
