LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) -- The plane that crashed in a central Pennsylvania cornfield in July was topped off with fuel just before takeoff, according to the preliminary report released by the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB).
The pilot, 58-year-old Musaddiq Nazeeri, of South Londonderry Township, also did a brief inspection of the Piper PA-46 plane before he entered, and was cleared for takeoff toward State College, the report states.
Once the plane began climbing and reached 650 feet above mean sea level, the NTSB report states it "suddenly" plummeted and crashed in the cornfield about a quarter mile from the runway about nine seconds later.
Nazeeri, a doctor for Nazeeri Family Medicine and the only one on board, was killed in the crash.
The plane was in flight for abo
