VANDERBURGH COUNTY, Ind. (WEVV) — School shootings have become a heartbreaking and terrifying reality across the United States, prompting communities to demand action to protect students and staff.

From locked doors to active shooter drills, school safety protocols have evolved significantly in recent years. Officials in Vanderburgh County say they are doing all they can to prepare for these threats.

Noah Robinson, sheriff of Vanderburgh County, acknowledged the grim reality.

“It’s a sad reality that no amount of preparation can prevent a determined person with a firearm from potentially taking human life,” Robinson said.
