MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - The Madison Police Department has selected its new leader.

According to a release from the City of Madison Police and Fire Commission, Chief John Patterson has been selected for the role.

Since January, Chief Patterson has served as interim police chief after Shon Barnes left. Barnes recommended him for the position.
