COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - Multiple people were hospitalized on Wednesday after a crash involving the South Congaree Police Chief.
According to Ashley Hunter, a spokesperson with the Town of South Congaree, Police Chief Steve Jonas was involved in a two-vehicle crash in the City of Columbia.
The spokesperson said that after the crash, Chief Jonas and the occupants in the other vehicle were transported to a local hospital for medical evaluation and care.
According to the statement, Chief Jones has been placed on administrative leave as a result of Wednesday’s crash.
“It is the standard protocol of the Town of South Congaree to place Chief Jones on administrative leave,” the town said in the release.
The investigation is being conducted by the South Carolina Highway Patrol (SCHP).
