Andrea Wedner can relate to the pain of those impacted by the deadly mass shooting at a Minneapolis Catholic school in ways most people can’t.

“To lose a child is the absolute worst thing that could happen. I know how horrible it was when I lost my mother and what we went through,” Wedner told Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 Wednesday. Advertisement

The Squirrel Hill resident survived the horrific attack on the Tree of Life Synagogue on October 27, 2018.

Her mother, Rose Mallinger, was one of the 11 worshippers shot and killed.

“We were both shot. I knew my mother was not going to survive, and I did my best to survive, and we were on the floor for about 40 minutes until I got rescued,” said Wedner.
