There's a certain discomfort that comes from watching two people fight, especially a couple, even if it's just a couple on screen in a movie.

Sometimes that feeling can be invigorating, such as in "Revolutionary Road," where "Titanic" lovers Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio went at each other's throats with savage aplomb, or "Marriage Story," when Scarlett Johansson and Adam Driver gave each other everything they had as their marriage dissolved around them.

And then there's "The Roses," where Olivia Colman and Benedict Cumberbatch are constantly undercutting and attacking one another, and you just wish they'd shut up and get a divorce already.
