YAKIMA, Wash. – The Confederated Tribes and Bands of the Yakama Nation have initiated a new campaign titled "Yakama Strong" to celebrate and recognize the generational strength, knowledge, and beauty of the Yakama people.
The campaign aims to bridge the gap in western education concerning tribal history, culture and sovereignty. It is an effort to educate the public on the Yakama Nation's powerful history and ongoing contributions in the Pacific Northwest.
The campaign's content was curated by Yakama Nation leadership, elders, tribal members, and staff.
Yakama Nation Chairman Gerald Lewis highlighted the importance of this initiative, stating, "This campaign allows others to learn who we are and what we would like to achieve."
