HOPKINS COUNTY, Ky. (WEVV) — The Hopkins County Family YMCA has officially opened its new Badgett Family Aquatics Center, bringing a significant addition to the community.

"It’s been around for while, lotta wear and tear on it a lot of old parts and pieces so bring a new facility to the to the community is huge," Keith Cottoner, chief executive officer of Hopkins County YMCA, said.

The $2 million renovation includes a permanent ADA-accessible pool, a new 25-yard competition and recreation pool, and a pool deck coating.

"We’re gonna try to build an entire ecosystem here with our swim program so we want kids come in and learn how to swim and then we wanna transition those kids into our swim team," said Cottoner.

The swim team program will have a parent information meeting on September
