ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB) - Last week, parents, teachers and students in Cenla were reminded how quickly things can change after LSUA went into lockdown after false reports of an active shooter on campus. With Wednesday’s deadly school shooting in Minneapolis , the focus on school safety is once again at the forefront, including here in Rapides Parish.

Rapides Parish School Board Superintendent Jeff Powell said the district is making transparency a priority by ensuring that parents, teachers and students are all aware of the safety plans in place and how schools would respond in an emergency.
