BANGOR -- This Sunday, Pine Hill Golf Course will play host to the Adam MacDonald Memorial MDA Open.

The tournament will benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

The event is open to the public and to all ages and skill levels.

Here's more on the tournaments backstory.

"It's named in honor of our friend Adam MacDonald who passed away in 2021 of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy," said MDA Committee Chair, Bangor Professional Firefighters Jared Bowden. "He and his mother Cheryl lived up in Presque Isle and they would make the trek down several times a year to help out with our 'Fill the Boot' events. When he died, we promised his mom that his legacy of fighting Duchenne and fighting neuromuscular disease wasn't going to be over, and we were going to continue this in his honor."
