GREENVILLE, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - Tuesday’s deadly shooting at a Minneapolis Catholic school is highlighting security discrepancies among private, charter and public schools–including here in the Upstate.

“Our prayers go out to Annunciation Catholic School: that could [have been] Presbyterian Academy,” said Dr. Rob Brown, head of school at First Presbyterian Academy (FPA). FPA is a K-12 private Christian School with two Upstate campuses.

Dr. Brown said much has changed over his two decades in education.

“Safety and security has certainly become more at the forefront of our thinking as school leaders than it was when i started 20-plus years ago,” explained Brown. “We didn’t have to think about ballistic material on windows or doors.”
