A second person found dead in a vehicle in Acton after it crashed into a ravine was identified by authorities Wednesday.

The crash was initially believed to be a two-vehicle collision because two cars were found in the ravine Sunday, but investigators later determined the wrecks were unrelated, according to the California Highway Patrol.

CHP officers were called around 8:25 a.m. Sunday to Mount Emma Road, just east of Angeles Forest Highway. Investigators with the CHP’s Antelope Valley Area officer said they believe the fatal crash occurred Aug. 19.

According to preliminary findings, a 2004 Toyota Corolla heading west on Mount Emma Road left the roadway and plunged about 100 feet down a steep embankment.

`Tragically, both occupants sustained fatal injuries as a result,” the CHP said.
