Brendan and Lisa Lawler of New Bedford have been arrested and charged in federal court.

The two are accused of using their insurance business to commit fraud worth $700,000.

The pair is accused of defrauding over 50 clients.

BOSTON — A New Bedford husband and wife have been arrested for their alleged involvement in a scheme to defraud clients seeking insurance coverage through their business, BL Insurance Brokerage LLC, according to the U.S. Department of Justice .

Brendan Lawler, 58, and Lisa Lawler, 45, both of New Bedford, face charges that include one count each of wire fraud and conspiracy to commit wire fraud. Both defendants appeared in federal court in Boston on Aug. 27.
