GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A busy travel weekend is in store for the unofficial end of summer.

Labor Day weekend is expected to bring sunshine and warmer temperatures to West Michigan after a fall-like week. Those warmer temperatures will be paired with plenty of sunshine.

Those who are looking to travel a bit early for the extended weekend may run into some showers and gusty conditions. Thursday is the best chance for rain in the extended forecast.

On a national scale, those traveling out of the Midwest may run into showers and thunderstorms in the southeast and off to the west. Idaho, Nevada, and portions of California have been dealing with flood alerts all week. Those may get extended as rainfall continues.
