JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WJHL) - It may be something that slips your mind while you're driving; however, indshield cracks have become increasingly common across the region.

It's a sound you may have heard on the interstate, and a sight you hate to see.

Manager of AAA Auto Glass in Johnson City Jim Houdeshell said rocks are one of the most common causes of windshield cracks.

"Most common reason is rocks from the road," Houndshell said. "Some people say they've been shot. They haven't. It's a rock from the road, and it's usually just road debris. Tires kick it out. You come out of a gravel driveway, it's in your tires, and it comes out on the road somewhere, and eventually gets to you."

AAA Autoglass sees up to 30 claims a day for windshield repairs, which vary in repair time.
