NORMAN — In 2018, Ben Arbuckle phoned his friend Ethan Morriss and said something to the effect of: “Dude, I’m tired of what I’m doing.”
Arbuckle had been a star quarterback at Canadian High School, a Texas Panhandle town where football is everything. He went on to play at West Texas A&M University, the Division-II school in Canyon, for two seasons before hanging up his cleats.
But after graduating in 2018 with degrees in finance and economics, and moving to Houston for a job with Fortune 500 oil company DCP Midstream, Arbuckle quickly became bored with the corporate world. He missed the joy of football.
