Once again, as happens every year, there are discussions and complaints about public school classrooms with no air conditioning (“Millions spent with no reliable plan, audit shows,” Star-Advertiser, Aug. 26) . I think we can all agree that nobody — not teachers or students — can thrive and learn in overheated environments.
I am amazed that the most obvious solution isn’t brought up: Stop going back to school in August, which is usually the hottest month of the year. An added bonus would be that our amazing Honolulu Little Leaguers could enjoy their time at the World Series like most of the other teams — free of worry about the school they are missing and will have to make up.
