TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA)—A tropical wave is forecast to emerge off the west coast of Africa, the National Hurricane Center announced.

The tropical wave is expected to emerge by this weekend to the south of the Cabo Verde Islands.

Environmental conditions appear favorable for slow development as the system moves westward to west-northwestward at 15 to 20 mph.

The system will move across the eastern into the central Tropical Atlantic through the middle of next week.

The chance of formation in the next seven days is 20 percent.

Fernand has become a post-tropical cyclone, the National Hurricane Center said.
