JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A male in his late teens was shot and killed at an apartment complex in Jacksonville's Mixon Town area Wednesday night, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

At 8:50 p.m., JSO said patrol officers responded to Hollybrook Homes Apartments located at 104 King St. in reference to the shooting.

When they arrived, officers found the teen suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, according to JSO. Members of the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department then responded to the scene and took the teen to a local hospital, where he later died, JSO said.

Although they said they are early in their investigation, JSO Sgt. Thompson said surveillance footage showed the suspect fleeing the apartments on foot in an unknown direction.
