MADISON – If you use Jake Renfro as a gauge, the Wisconsin Badgers football players understand the spot they’re in.

“You know, we got a chip on our shoulder because nobody's talking about us. No one cares about us. That's okay,” he said. “That's totally fine. We know what we did last. We know what happened.

“But, you know, this is where we go show the world what we are, who we are now, and what we can do.”

The offseason was extra long for the Badgers . Without a bowl game to play in for the first time in 23 years, Wisconsin has gone 272 days since its last game.

That run ends Thursday night, Aug. 28, when UW plays host to Miami (Ohio) at Camp Randall Stadium .
