Powerball players, it's time to check those tickets.

The Powerball jackpot kept rising towards historic highs ahead of the Wednesday, Aug. 27 drawing, coming in at $861 million after no one cashed the top prize on Monday, Aug. 25.

The Aug. 27 drawing offered a one-time cash payment of $388.8 million to anyone who matched all five numbers and the Powerball.

The estimated $861 million prize on Aug. 27 marked the sixth-largest Powerball jackpot of all time , beating out the $842 million winner that was drawn back on Jan. 1, 2024, when one lucky person in Michigan took the prize.
