Michigan should know soon whether it will play its 2026 football season opener overseas.
Athletic director Warde Manuel said this week that he expects to make a decision on moving the scheduled game against Western Michigan to Frankfurt, Germany, in the next four to five weeks, he told the department-produced “Conqur’ing Heroes” podcast .
“We have not agreed to do it 100 percent,” Manuel said, clarifying a late-July report from On3. “We’re still evaluating, we’re still looking at it.”
Manuel said a team of athletic department employees just returned from a site visit to Duetsche Bank Park, the 55,000-seat stadium that would host the game.
