IOWA CITY — Jared Ambrose can’t seem to escape Mark Gronowski.
In the spring of 2021, Ambrose was on the staff at Delaware, and Gronowski was a true freshman at South Dakota State when the two teams met in the FCS Playoffs. In 2023, Ambrose, then on the staff at Albany, met Gronowski in the FCS Playoffs again.
In those two games combined, Gronowski threw for 427 yards and five touchdowns. The Jackrabbits won both games in blowout fashion.
And now, Ambrose, in his first season as Albany’s interim head football coach, is set to stand on the opposite sideline of the quarterback once again.
“We have a clear understanding of all the talent that Mark has,” Ambrose told the Register, “And then some.”
