The Eagles are bringing back former starting safety Marcus Epps, according to an NFL Network report.

After signing a one-year deal with the Patriots this offseason, Epps was released on Tuesday at final cuts. According to The Boston Herald , Epps requested his release and the Patriots granted it.

The Eagles by Wednesday afternoon were down to just three safeties after waiving Tristin McCollum to create a roster spot. The only safeties on the roster were Reed Blankenship, Sydney Brown and rookie Drew Mukuba, who didn’t practice on Wednesday with a hamstring injury.

So, at the very least, Epps will offer the Eagles some depth at the safety position.
