Vanderbilt star Diego Pavia wasn’t on the Zanies Comedy Club stage when he recently stated the Commodores have what it takes to win the College Football Playoff national championship this season.

Appearing on the Aug. 6 edition of The Paul Finebaum Show, Vandy’s ace graduate quarterback drew a chuckle from the host after stating with a straight face: “I think we’ve got the tools offensively and defensively to really put our foot forward and go win the national championship.”

“You’re definitely serious, right?” Finebaum responded.

“Yeah. That wasn’t cracking a joke. That’s the standard,” said Pavia, the 2024 SEC and AP Newcomer of the Year and a second-team All-America honoree.
