A man was killed when a pickup truck slammed head-on into his minivan early Tuesday morning in Minot, Maine.

The Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office says deputies responded to a serious two-vehicle crash in the 700 block of Center Minot Hill Road around 5:36 a.m. and arrived to find a black Chevrolet Silverado and a gold Mercury minivan.

A preliminary investigation shows the pickup truck was traveling northbound on the roadway when it crossed the centerline and collided with the minivan that was traveling southbound, causing critical injuries to the minivan driver -- identified as 48-year-old Jonathan Spofford, of Hebron.

Spofford was pronounced dead on scene, officials said.
